There is a famous story of lord Krishna who exemplifies his equalization of Tulsi leaves, the holy plant without any part to be separated from consumption when the encircled soil around it is considered divine. It has a great role in Hindu mythology they are personified as the Vrinda incarnation of goddess Lakshmi and their transportation from east to west made a new history of adding them to new levels of worship. Being the second day of Onam known as Chithira particularly this holy plant's leaves and inflorescence are used for decorating Athapookalam beyond to enhance the beauty they add fragrance to the divine purity of households.
