Hibiscus is a very peculiar flower that is widely used for spiritual purposes in South India. This bisexual flower of Malvaceae has a close reference to the goddess Kali the spouse of Lord Shiva with her bloodthirsty fierce attitude. She carries all the strong and sacred shastras of gods these features make her rebellious on the battlefield. She calmed down when she realized she was footed on Shiva’s chest She felt ashamed and showed her tongue outside. Her tongue resembles to red hibiscus. This flower represents her power rather than her shame. This flower glorifies Athapookalam with its immense charm and connects the divine of Ma Kali.
