Do you know this white adorable flower? usually, these flowers decorated the backyards of Kerala homes without any nurture they were frequently plucked out by women of the past. Leucas aspera or Thumbapoovu is a traditional flower beyond its medicinal value it occupies the foremost position in Athapookalam of the harvest festival Onam for welcoming the generous and affable Asur king Mahabali who was sent to the under spaces of the earth by lord Vishnu. Now these flowers are infrequent in urban areas by the lack of vegetation even though they never require any nurture.

Whereas rural celebrations entirely vary with the extreme touch of nature with very traditional practices of togetherness.
